Blue plate specials orginated in the USA in diners & cafes.  It refers to a specially low-priced meal, usually changing daily and typically consists of a "meat and three" (three vegetables), presented on a single blue plate.  The term was very common from the 1920s through to the 1950s, although no one is 100% clear as to why the plates were blue.  Our Blue Plate Specials are on our finest white china - so come in and enjoy!
